High Tech Pools
High tech pools are designed to instigate minimal wave interference (using drainage) and allow improved grip for kick-turns. Pools of an ideal depth (3m) are designed for fast swimming and incorporate features including high tech lane ropes (to prevent some wave interference) and efficient starting blocks (see below).

Omega Starting Block
The omega starting block is an innovative starting block with an angled piece at the rear of the platform designed to reduce times by up to one-tenth of a second. The efficiency of the omega starting block has been proven by CSIRO research and it will be the official starting block of the 2008 beijing games. It is just another technological innovation helping swimmers to break records and win races.
